The collaborative action research project presented analysed the potential of museum education to radically transform the way in which English was taught and learnt in three diverse elementary, middle, and high-school contexts in the province of València (Spain). Within these frames, the concept of cultural sustainability tends to be diversely defined and operationalized. The aim of this thesis is to assess how the discoursesof migration and multiculturalism arebeendepicted in the Finnish and Canadian policy documents. This was assessed by using the concept of governmentality and multiculturalism as the theoretical framework of the study. The chapter presents two different ways of delineating contemporary rural living: the approach of the Finnish Rural Policy Committee and the alternative approach arising from definitions given by the people living in rural Finland. The aim of this chapter is to explore agricultural practices and their sustainability, in order to analyse the essence and dynamics of culture in relation to sustainable development. We ask, what should sustain in culture and what does culturally sustainable development entail? We identified three core qualities of sustainability in farming: fertility, diversity and continuity.
